I hand install my debian packages, and have an offline repository, because
garbage like this tends to slip onto my machine. This package slipped in
through firefox somehow, and framerate on recordings stalled out. It more
than likely interferes with opengl. RIP Firefox...

No, Firefox did not do that. It cannot install packages in your system.

hunspell-gl is a dictionary. GL being a shortcut for Galician, not OpenGL.

$ apt show hunspell-gl
(...)
This is the Galician dictionary for use with the hunspell spellchecker.

Now, we cleared that, what problem with OpenGL or Firefox are you
having? Have you tried running Fx from new, empty profile?

apt show firefox-esr-l10n-gl
...
Recommends: hunspell-gl-es | hunspell-gl

My guess is that either firefox-esr-l10n-gl was installed to improve GL
support or the package was pulled by firefox-esr-l10n-all.

To my untutored eye, this doesn't look right.
You appear to be involved in academia, and it's much more likely to be
associated with something like a LaTeX install. Being a southern state,
a Spanish dictionary could be called for.
Cheers!
